AJ Cheesesteaks opens physical restaurant in Cincinnati

AJ Cheesesteaks, a food truck based in Cincinnati, Ohio, now has its first physical restaurant on Whetsel Avenue in the former Agape Café. Owner Ty Velez first rolled out his food truck in 2017, according to a report by Local 12.

“We started with a 17-inch black stone griddle, a deep fryer from Target, and a picnic table. We would literally rent a U-Haul three or four times a week to pull it before we settled at the BP gas station in Norwood,” Velez said. “Our customer base and our brand recognition have continued to grow. We want to give access to one of the best and authentic cheesesteaks to our customers seven days a week.”

Velez said that he grew up without knowing his father and put himself through community college.

” It was a personal challenge to myself to see if we can create something that can and will have a lasting message behind it,” he said.
