The Austin, Texas City Council has approved a change to food truck inspections to allow inspectors to see the trucks at their location. Previously, vendors had to take trucks to an inspection site, which could cause loss of revenue, according to a report by KVUE.
With the change, there will be two additional fees, but food truck owners are happy with the change.
“Every time you have to move it, you have to close, you have to take out everything, like all the tools and the product to go there,” Manual Betancourt, owner of 16 food trucks, told the news outlet about the previous rule. “So of course you end of loosing a lot of opening time.”
There are currently 1,500 food trucks in the city.
